Day 33 of Challenge (60/60), Class #34 ~ The Door is Locked… No One Can Leave!

I have a confession to make. Last night I binged on the piles of Halloween candy we have at our house. I am sure there are many others going through this as well so you can relate. For those of you who have iron steel will power against yummy Halloween candy… well, good for you! Needless to say there was some regret especially from my belly which was very pissed off at me all night till mid day today. The positive thing is I am sick of the candy now and have no taste for it. I think I may have sweated some chocolate out tonight in class.

I hit the 5pm class tonight after work and Pavida was teaching….I was ready for her! I had my coconut water last night, hydrated and ate well today and had all my supplements. I knew it would be a good class, especially if I could get my mind to cooperate. As for the whole mind game thing tonight, my mind wasn’t doing the guilt trip to me. It definitely helped that my sweet hubby posted on my Facebook he 110% supports me in my yoga endeavor and he recognizes it is an integral part of my personal growth. I am just amazed that he gets me and so blessed to have a partner in life like him.

To all those who wonder how you can fit yoga into a crazy life, YOU CAN… you make the decision to do it and then everything else falls into place to make it happen. I do recognize if you have children (especially little ones) and a full time job that you definitely need a support system that understands the importance of yoga for you and your life. For me the yoga extends beyond myself in the hot room. It really reaches into all areas of my life to every relationship I have… I can definitely tell you every person I know that knew me before starting Bikram Yoga and after will say I am a better person for it. I definitely feel the energy I give off to the world is more positive and happy because of the influence of yoga. If you think it’s hocus pocus  – give it a try… you’ll see for yourself.

Class tonight was pretty full but not packed. I had Lisa C. as my rear view and a woman I didn’t know to my right. Lisa T. was back in action and Morgan, Jim, and Emily were across the room on the other side. Part of me had a momentary thought of uh-oh I am on the side of the room that I had all those horrible classes last week. Then I thought all more the reason to be on this side to break the rut. The poor girl on my right went down right after the breathing exercise and she whispered to Pavida I am very dizzy. She ended up leaving before we even got to “Party Time” (water break – I know that is how us Yogis party…). She just picked her stuff up and left… I have to admit it was a bit distracting and energy draining for me. Part of the yoga is learning to concentrate on yourself and what you are doing regardless of what is going on around you. That’s a good skill to have in the outside world as well. I am definitely still working on it since I have the concentration of a gnat.

After Pavida got back from locking up when the lady left. She announced on the podium, “I know what you are thinking… you can’t leave. The Door is locked and no one can leave… too bad!”  I just cracked up but everyone else was really serious… it makes me chuckle right now just thinking about it. Pavida was on a roll tonight cracking me up. She also said she has difficulty saying “spine strengthening series” for some reason… I think there is another thing she can’t say because of her accent – my yoga brain has taken it away though.  One thing Pavida does say super cute with her accent is “BEAUUUUUTIIIIFUL” —  it’s just fabulous the way she says Beautiful!

Pavida gave me some really great corrections tonight so I am eager to work on them in the coming classes. It ‘s always great to improve a little bit everyday and so rewarding when you can actually feel and see the improvement. I say this because I know there is always improvement going on even if you can’t tell, so when you can see it and feel it – such an awesome feeling.

I will say that the heat seemed pretty normal in class tonight until we got on the floor. Then all of a sudden I thought my body was going to burst into flames. Yes people it was hot tonight. I have no idea how the yogini to the left of the room was wearing long sleeves and long pants… it made me sweltering hot just looking at her. God bless her for being able to get through class with all those clothes on. Personally I can’t stand anything on me and I wear the minimal amount of clothing necessary  booty shorts and tiny bra tops.

At the end of class Lisa C. helped me get into a back bend again. I feel more confident now to work on doing back bends. I also worked on the splits again tonight and I wasn’t able to get as deep as yesterday but still more than in the past. All in all it was a pretty good day.

I managed to eat a healthy Whole Foods salad for dinner tonight and I even ran into Garland at Whole Foods. She was preparing for the big seminar this coming weekend. So far no candy… I am planning to keep it that way. I hope there will be no confession on tomorrow’s post.

Namaste Peeps!

Hey girl! I will be there at 5 pm:) the headband was a gift from Morgan in class. She saw me struggling with my cray cray hair and thought it would help to contain it . It’s a brand called yogi toes and you can get on eBay she said:) see you tonight!!
