Day 25 of Challenge (60/60), Class# 26 – Died and came back to life…

I missed class yesterday on Day 24 so I am now just one class ahead today. This morning I woke up feeling pretty good and ready to get back to the hot room. I could already feel the effects of not going to class yesterday. I didn’t feel as calm and peaceful. I know it’s because I missed class yesterday and sat in car for the whole day. I needed to stretch and get my sweat on.

I ate really well and made a good choice at lunch today having a veggie sandwich and salad. I also had my E3live this morning and chia seeds so all was good until I hit the midday slump around 3pm. I started to really drag and I was trying to pull it together at work. I even started the whole self talk to myself, “you can always skip today and make up with another double class” I had to snap out of it and basically force myself to class today. I am not sure if it was my allergies, or something but I just was fatigued and really dragging. It came out of nowhere.

Jessica taught the 5pm tonight so I was happy to see her and knew that I would be getting some good corrections. Class wasn’t too busy today and there were fellow challengers: Katherine, Michelle, and Jim in class.  I thought I was gonna pass out and have to leave during the first breathing exercise so I knew it was going to be a rough class. I managed to not sit out any poses despite me telling myself you can always sit this next one out if you want.

By the time we got to triangle pose I was feeling a lot better and more engaged in class. I was relieved that I was coming back to life. I did notice I was more stiff in class today than usual. I think skipping that one day and sitting in the car the whole day really stiffened me up in class. Jessica mentioned in class today that we try yoga, we don’t do yoga. I definitely tried today for sure. I know I benefited from class despite my struggle.

Jessica also mentioned in the beginning of class that she always drinks room temperature water if she is going to drink it in the room. The reason is because you are trying to heat your body up from the inside out and it is part of the process. When she takes class she doesn’t drink at all during class. I saw Katherine didn’t get water till the end of class today. I know I need to try that one of these days. Maybe I will try with the room temperature water first. Man that is gonna be tough… I really love my ice cold water.

I was so relieved when class was over today and I definitely felt like I died in class today and came back to life. It was so nice to see encouraging faces coming into the studio for the 7pm class. I saw Laura and she gave me great energy to leave with. Katherine and I were having a discussion about how the yoga doesn’t do it for my abs. Laura said to do back bending and it will definitely work your abs out – that is the ticket I guess. I know Jessica mentioned to hold your stomach in the whole class and it will definitely work your whole core. I definitely try to that every class but with all the other things to squeeze and hold tight it is hard to remember sometimes. Definitely a work in progress. Laura also gave a great suggestion on my attempt at doing splits. I will give that a try tomorrow. I think sometimes you learn just as much in the locker room between classes as you do inside the hot room.

On the way out, I saw  Jackie was teaching the 7pm and I signed up for the Joseph Encinia and Yukari Miwa Seminar next weekend. I am so excited to learn from them and to see them in action. It will be such a treat, especially on my birthday. I was surprised to see there were a ton of first timers coming to take the 7pm when I left tonight. That should be an interesting class. I am glad tomorrow is a new day. I have no expectations but that’s what is so great… it’s a new day!

Namaste Peeps!
