Day 23 of Challenge (60/60), Class #25 ~ Detox so you can Retox

Sunday funday is the best day of the week.  I woke up this morning feeling refreshed and pretty good even after doing the double class yesterday. My plan today was to take the 4pm at Stony Pt for a change of pace and also spend some time with my babies. I went to the indoor pool with my little girl, Clover, and had a blast. I think it also loosened up my muscles a little. I managed to eat a healthy lunch at Jason’s Deli. I just love their salad bar but also the soft serve ice cream that comes with the meal. I mean who can resist free ice cream? (unless you are lactose intolerant of course)

I am planning to take tomorrow off because I need to head out of town for the day to get an adjustment for my braces. I am praying that the Orthodontist says, “Ok, all done!”  Knowing that I would be out of town, I wanted to make sure to have the best class I could… but with no expectations. It takes me a little longer to get to the Stony Pt studio from my side of town but it’s nice to have the option of the two studios with different times.

When I got there I saw Garland on my way in and I think she was coming from the Advanced Class they have on the weekends. This is something that is like a mystery to me. All I know is that you have to take one regular Bikram class and then stay for the Advanced which is longer than the regular class I think. They do three sets of the postures and some other poses. This is what I have heard through the grapevine. One day maybe I will venture into realm of yoga. Right now I’m good trying to get through this 60/60.

I was excited to see MARCIA! I finally got to take one of her classes and blog about it. She is funny and has a Ellen DeGeneres sense of humor. Soon as I came in she mentioned she was taking the chia seeds and E3live. I was so excited to hear that she was trying it out. She also told me she was super energized and she thought it was because of the chia and E3live. Chia actually helps you absorb your vitamins and minerals better and then to take E3live on top of that… no wonder she was pumped up. I knew we were in for a fun class.

I ran into Morgan in the locker room and she mentioned she was out of it because they had a fun night out the night before and she was nervous about class. Definitely sweating it out is the best remedy. Morgan comes to class with her hubby, Tom, sometimes. I think it’s sweet when couples practice together. I wonder if I will ever get my dear hubby in the hot room. Every time I ask, he says HELL NO! I guess that’s a pretty clear answer. I always say never say never. Actually, today in class there was this sweet couple in my rear view. They come together a lot and you could feel their couple like energy in class.

Marcia announced at the beginning of class that there were 5 first timers in class and 31 people taking. It was definitely a busy class and come to think of it every time I go to the 4pm at Stony Pt on the weekends it’s always pretty packed.  She said it was funny sitting at the check in because as people come in it’s like confession. Everyone tells her why they won’t be doing well in class that day and that they went out and drank too much, or they are not feeling well. She mentioned that this yoga is great because you can detox and then retox… definitely laughter in the room from that. She also mentioned in class that laughing is so good for us. Even just smiling changes the structure of your body. She said that it’s even in the dialogue… do something with your smiling happy face. I guess it’s supposed to make things that are difficult easier when you smile. Mental note: smile the next time I do something hard. She also brought up having no expectations when coming to class. It’s a common theme you hear in class with all the teachers.

Marcia also payed homage to Halloween by having us do the zombie noise, growl when we came up from the fixed firm posture in second set. I thought she meant when we were coming out of savasana so  I think I growled at the wrong time… which explains why the guy behind me gave me a weird look. Oh well I was trying to be festive.

Tonight I fell out of balancing stick on the second set, left leg. I almost crashed into the mirror… that would have been really bad. I just shrugged it off. I was relieved when we went down to floor series. I was pushing hard today and I think it was getting to me. One thing that was different in class today was my skin. Since I swam this morning and then rinsed off, I noticed my skin was not slick at all even with the sweat. I was able to really grip on my skin in posture and pull harder. Very cool and something to remember if I want to recreate that again in class.

When we were getting into full locust (airplane), Marcia said it’s ok to touch other people in class setting up since it was a crowded class today, but it wasn’t ok to feel anyone up. That just cracked me up – the whole room laughed!! She said one of the senior teachers she took from used to say that. I ended up having a great class today and I am so ready to have a day off.

On the way out I chatted more with Marcia. She is very easy to talk to and so welcoming in conversation. We were talking about how some people can do such amazing postures. She reminded me they practice often 8 hours a day. So there you have it people. Do 8 hours a day of yoga and then you can become a Yogi or Yogini Superstar. Don’t tempt me…

Namaste Peeps!
