Day 17 of Challenge (60/60), Class #18 Happy Monday!
“As soon as you truly commit to making something happen, the ‘how’ will reveal itself” — Tony Robbins
I read this quote off Twitter today and thought it really applies to me right now. I am thinking it may apply to others so I am sharing it. Today was a great Monday! I woke up not too sore and well rested after a tiring weekend. I think I didn’t sleep enough last weekend or the effects of the trip to Dallas were still with me. I knew today would be one of those busy days at work so I decided to take the 5pm class at the West End studio. A small part of me was wondering who would be teaching. I made sure to pack all my yoga gear and get it all in the car. It really looks like I am going somewhere for the weekend when I go to yoga straight from work.
My awesome hubby is still working on compressing my photos of the poses and also installing some plug in so that the pictures are not overwhelmingly big. I am hoping sometime this week I will be able to post them up for all to see how much work I have ahead of me. Remember it is a lifetime practice. Thank God, I think I will need a lifetime to get to the full expression of these postures.
I managed to hydrate today and remembered to bring water from home. I also ate a healthy salad for lunch so I was not grossly full for class. I had my one shot of E3live and on the way to class I was thinking I wish I had taken another one for good measure. Oh well there is always tomorrow.
When I got to the studio I saw Dave! I hadn’t taken a class with him since the one where I titled the blog post “humbling class”. Basically he kicked my butt and I was hurting bad the last class. Maybe the yoga gods thought I was ready to handle his class. We joked around a bit about how hard his classes are. Again it is with love I say because he makes me a better yogini for sure. The room was typical Dave hot although he made a funny comment that he felt the room was Pavida hot. I guess this is how we should measure the teachers by the hotness of the room. At the end of class, Lisa C. told me the room was 106 degrees and 40 percent humidity….HOT people!
I was excited to see familiar faces at the studio. Morgan and I talked about how hot it was in there and a movie she just watched “Forks Over Knives”. She said it basically made her throw everything out of her kitchen. She said don’t watch it unless you want to become a vegan. I am already a vegetarian and holding on strong to my eggs and cheese, so no way sister am I gonna watch that one. So basically these are the conversations us yoga people have. It kind of made me giggle. I also got to chat with Lisa C. and Michelle, who is back from her wedding. Michelle is a beast! She freaking runs 4 miles in the mornings and then will come to Bikram Yoga in the evenings. I have to give her mad props because that is just too much for me.
I was happy to have Lisa T., my double class buddy next to me in class today and Michelle in my rear view. The energy in class was amazing today. At the beginning of class, Dave joked about giving us a more fun class because of my last blog post with him teaching. Just for the record, today’s class was a lot of fun. Don’t get me wrong it was hard as hell but fun.
We had a lot of double names today in class. Two Lisas, two Cathys (one with C and one with K) and two Daves (one of the Daves was the teacher). I say this because many times in class teachers will call out your name and give you a correction. Sometimes if a teacher doesn’t clarify which one, you are not sure he or she is talking to you. I don’t have that problem usually with Alicia but on occasion there is an Alisha that comes to class so I am all confused when a teacher will say, “Alicia push harder…etc”. It amazes me all the names the teachers can remember. I wonder if there is a class on remembering names at Teacher Training.
I was grateful for a strong class today despite me looking like a stroke victim at the end of class. I am not sure how some people manage to look put together at the end of the 90 minutes. My hair is everywhere even though I have it pulled back and I just look a hot mess. The important thing is that after the 90 minutes I feel Ah-Ma-ZING!!! I was happy to put my smiley face sticker on the Challenge Chart and now I have 18 classes down. Only 2 more classes and I will be 1/3done. It sounds better than just putting down 20 classes. I did look at some of the other people doing the challenge and Natalie, the teacher that is at a Back Bending Seminar, has doubles and even a couple triple classes on her chart! Her mom, Kara, is putting up the stickers for her while she is away. Now that is impressive.
Tomorrow morning I have a super early appointment so I hope I have enough energy by the end of the day for class. Another prayer will be said for that tonight.
Namaste Peeps!
