Day 6 of Challenge (60/60), Class #7 ~ Humbling Class
Surprisingly I woke up this morning without any soreness and also got up right before my alarm went off. I was a little nervous since I pushed so hard last night in class that I would be achier this morning. A big happy smile that I was not. I had another super early work meeting so I was in race mode this morning. I am happy to report that I was nice and calm but moving quickly. I am usually stressed out and anxious if I have to rush in the mornings. Not today… I am attributing it to the 60/60 and doing more Bikram Yoga.
I managed to get one dose of E3 Live in today and my Chia Seeds but no breakfast, so by lunch I was crazy starving and ate a Portobello Mushroom Sandwhich. I know it sounds healthy and harmless but that baby and the homemade chips of course decided to stay with me all day long and through the whole evening class tonight. Mental note peeps… DO NOT eat heavy sandwhiches before yoga, even if they are pretending to be healthy vegetarian sandwhiches. The Portobello mushroom made a happy home right in my belly and boy did I pay for it tonight. I am going to start to plan my eating better with this 60/60. Come to think of it, that is why I became a vegetarian over a year ago, because of the yoga and the miserable feeling I would get from eating meat and then trying to get through class.
I was excited to get to class tonight because the AMAZING Dave is back for some guest teaching while a couple of teachers are away at seminars. He was teaching here in Richmond up until a couple months back but decided to head back to Iowa. I am so happy he is back even if it is only for two weeks. I heard from Facebook that he would be teaching tonight at the West End studio so I was pumped!!
When I walked into the studio I was greeted with a huge smile from Dave and from my 60/60 buddy Lisa! I knew it would be a tough and HOT HOT HOT class because Dave is notorious for making it “hurt so good”. He has lots of funny Daveisms like do the “Bikram cha cha cha” during one of our poses…He also holds postures for a LONG time and really pushes you in class…. this is so great and welcomed! He makes you better and really makes it an awesome workout.
I had a really humbling tough class tonight. I was extra thirsty and did not drink enough today and paid the price for that. At one point I was dizzy and I almost fell over in one of the postures. Then I had a thought, if I fell down would people laugh at me or keep going? Just one of the many crazy thoughts that fly around during the 90 minute class. I managed to get through every posture and not sit out – not really sure how. Let’s just say I left it all on the mat tonight. I left class totally spent but oddly feeling like I just had a massage. I know sounds weird but true. I decided on a pink sticker today for my chart progress and proudly see 7 classes in a row. WOO HOO!
In the locker room a mother and young daughter about 7 or 8 are getting ready for the next class and I think WOW! That kid is gonna be some super rockstar Yogini one day. I wonder if my little girl or boy will want to venture into the world of Bikram Yoga. Only time will tell.
I left the parking lot happy and relieved it was all over for today. LIVE IN THE PRESENT… tomorrow will be there when you get there.
Namaste Peeps!
