Day 52 of Challenge (60/60), Class #54 ~ Back in the game
Happy Monday! This week it definitely is a Happy Monday since it’s a short week with Thanksgiving. I can’t believe how fast this year has flown and also how fast this challenge has gone by. It feels like it was just yesterday I was writing my first blog post. I had a great work day and I also took my E3live this morning and chia seeds so I was back in the game supplement wise. I also added some Emergen-C last night before bed and it really made me feel better. I wasn’t as stiff this morning at all. Definitely sore still from all the yogaing but not as achy and in pain as I have been in the past couple of weeks. I feel like I am turning the corner and my body is coming back to life. I am sure adding all the extra vitamins and electrolytes helped with my muscles last night.
While I was driving to work this morning I was thinking I am really, really happy. I was thinking about doing the advanced class yesterday and I just got really happy. Before class Sunday part of me was dreading taking the advanced because of how challenging it really is. I am so glad I ignored that negative talk and went because today I just felt renewed and so happy.
I also practiced the Mula Bandha all day so I could use it in class. I am totally fascinated with it the contracting the anus and sucking the lower abs in… I am convinced this is the key to my practice! I went to the 5pm today so pumped up to try it out in class to see if it would make a difference. I also made sure to drink my coconut water before class and take one into class. The whole discussion on Mula Bandha definitely brought up some funny posts on my FaceBook. I know it sounds weird all the contracting and lifting but I am telling you I think it’s the key.
I went to the 5pm class with Natalie tonight and I was happy to see Lisa T. I hadn’t seen her in a few days and she told me she didn’t think she would get through the challenge. She said she felt bad about it but I told her not to feel bad. The challenge is only for us. To feel bad about it defeats the purpose of the challenge. The whole point is just to do more yoga and Lisa definitely has done more yoga. I would bet a lot more than if she wasn’t doing the challenge. I am sure all the incredible benefits she has gained from all the classes so far are worth more than just “completing” the challenge. I know how she feels though, I am extremely goal driven myself and tend to beat myself up if I don’t accomplish what I set out to do. That is partially why I decided to blog. I figured it would keep me super accountable in completing the challenge. In the process of that I feel like it really has helped me to see myself better and get to know myself better. I saw a tweet this morning on Twitter that someone said “Bikram Yoga has made me fall in love with myself“. I would have to say this is how I feel about Bikram Yoga.
So many of my yoga buddies were class today so it made for a super fun class with lots of great energy. I definitely tried out my Mula Bandha tonight in almost all the postures. For sure it totally helped with Standing Head to Knee and Camel. I was able to balance easier without as much struggle and my back bending was just easier. I am definitely going to keep using the technique and see what happens. Even my Rabbit seemed better tonight!! Woo Hoo! I am so pumped about this find peeps!
I had a really strong class and didn’t feel as wiped out as I have been the past couple weeks or so. It feels good to be back and having a strong practice. At the end of class Laura, Katie, and RoseAnn were coming in for the 7pm and I told them to definitely try the Mula Bandha. I am excited to hear back if it worked for them. I am excited for tomorrow’s class to see if I can keep progressing with the Mula Bandha.
Namaste Peeps!
