Day 21 of Challenge (60/60), Class #22 ~No walker for me when I am old!

TGIF! I made it through another week and I am so happy it’s the weekend. I am still one class ahead and plan to do a double tomorrow at 12pm and 2pm at the West End Studio. I have to add to the bank because I know I will be missing some days coming up soon.  I woke up this morning with an achy belly from all the poor eating yesterday. My body is rejecting the bad  unhealthy and begging me for the good stuff – my mind however is not cooperating with it these days.  Oddly enough the more days into the challenge I am naturally choosing better foods for me even though I stray here and there. I am sure you all can relate to this.

I tried to eat light this morning but still ate my chia seeds and E3live. I meant to pick up some more after class tonight but my yoga brain was in full effect and I didn’t remember it. Mental note: get more E3live tomorrow.  I had a productive work today and lunch with a coworker. I told her about the 60/60 and also encouraged her to give Bikram Yoga a try. I will keep you posted if she comes to class. I am finding myself talking about yoga all the time now. It is basically taking over my entire life. I am not complaining though, I think it is helping me so much. So naturally I want to talk about, plan my life around it and experience it.

I am definitely starting to notice changes in my body this week. I feel stronger and leaner than in the past. I definitely think it is toning me and I am excited about the results this far. I mean you basically kill yourself for 90 minutes every single day… sometimes twice a day, there better be some awesome changes going on with my body! I feel like a professional athlete with all the time and energy I am putting into this Challenge.

I went to the 5pm class tonight and Jessica was back and teaching. She just got married and was away for a bit. I definitely missed her and taking her classes. She was the first teacher I had so there is a nostalgia with her. What I love most about her class is she takes time to do demonstrations and corrections in between postures. It is extremely helpful and I always leave class improvements. It’s kind of a like a posture clinic within a class. She also has great energy and is very humorous in class.  Tonight she was talking about the poor people you see using walkers and old people that are just hunched over and having a hard time in old age. She said if you do this yoga, no walker for you. That’s what I am talking about peeps…basically I am preparing my body to deal with old age. I kind of look at it as maintenance. You have to treat your body and self like a Masserati and not a old Pinto. You have take care of your body and give it regular maintenance… Yoga is definitely maintenance. So watch out world, when I am 80 years old I am gonna be rocking out doing Bikram yoga and jumping around like a 20 year old. (well that’s the plan at least)

Tonight’s class was just what I needed after a long crazy week at work. I was excited to get in the hot room and sweat it out. I had awesome rear view peeps tonight. Laura and Rose Ann just gave me great energy. Rose Ann also did a Rabbit demonstration which was amazing and beautiful. I hope I can get my head to my knees in that posture one of these days. I really struggle with the Rabbit pose and honestly I really don’t like it. I know the poses we don’t like or have trouble with are the ones we need most. Rabbit causes me anxiety, I feel like I am suffocating and my upper body doesn’t want to cooperate. I even pulled some muscle in my neck last night doing Rabbit and it came back to bite me tonight in class. After class sweet Laura tried to help me out with applying pressure on it. She learned it in her medical school rotation. I can’t remember what muscle it was exactly but it’s the one that’s near the vein in your neck….ouch! Just what she showed me in the locker room really helped release it. Thank God!

Matt was also in class tonight and he is veteran yogi and doing the challenge as well. He is super disciplined and doesn’t drink water during class. He also seems to have this whole stillness thing down pat. I am trying to learn from him. Before class started he was working on some advanced posture which was very inspiring to watch. He is proof that you can build muscle in yoga. Also my double partner Lisa T. came to class but she was on the otherside of the room. I know she felt the same way I did about needing that hot room tonight to make it all better.

It was the perfect temperature and humidity tonight and I was able to shower quickly before class so no drama with loose hair sticking to me. I definitely felt spent after class in a really good way. I am feeling soreness deep in my muscles but I know it’s from all the hard work I am doing in class. I am starting to pump myself up for the double tomorrow. I hope I can get through both classes without burning out. I will definitely try to get more rest tonight and see if that helps. Happy Friday.

Namaste Peeps!
